If you venture down that far then this site is a must. It is located on a gravel road on the left just before you arrive in Te Anau. It is sign posted Observation point and works well if the wind is coming off the lake.

Park at the lookout and away you go. Remember if it is summer the you can fly till 10.30 at night.
